confession: I love these Palm Springs/Desert shoots, (some people prefer to call the general area palm springs and some palm desert and I am with the later) but that's because I have a soft spot for the desert. I was born and raised in Newport Beach and I used spend Thanksgiving and Easter in Palm Desert an my Grandfather would take me and two friends out every so often when I was in grade school. This is how I remember the desert: it was a place on the verge of being modern, more of a retreat than a vacation spot if that makes sense. It's changed now, but I think it will always have that feeling of being a little behind and far away, but in the romantic sense and that feeling is captured in this editorial. I'd walk around the neighborhood and sometimes there would be no one, I could lay down on someone's lawn without being chased away, granted this is because a lot of older people live here and most people live in these developments part time but still, you can't get away with that in most places The next post (from Vogue Australia) has a very similar vibe, but I don't feel like it captures the essence of Palm Springs/Desert, or at least the desert I remember.
